The Solemnity of Ss. Augustine & Monica
We invite you to join us for our celebration of the Feast of Saint Monica on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and the Solemnity of Saint Augustine on Friday, August 28, 2026. Mass will be offered at 8:00am and 12:00 noon on both days. At noon Mass there will be music and a special blessing. In observance of the Solemnity of Saint Augustineon Friday, August 28, 2026, there will be no 4:00 p.m. Confessions at the Shrine. Our sacramental schedule will return to normal on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
In Confessions, Augustine describes his mother, Saint Monica, primarily as a woman of profound faith, patient perseverance, maternal love, and humble service. Saint Augustine is the Spiritual Father of the Augustinian Order. The Friars and Sisters share his rule of common life and worship, his inspiring and challenging example of an interior life of prayer, and generous service to God’s people.
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit,
That my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit,
That my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit,
That I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit,
To defend all that is holy.
